I'm being pressured to return to work and it hasn't be a week since I was given emergency chest drain treatment within hospital. My condition is COPD and I'm 53 yrs old. I'm unqualified to walk more than 20 yard without becoming extremely breathless. My work is sedentary but stressful and requires commuting.I simply suffered a subsidiary pneumothorax, how long should I appropriate sour work recovering?
It is not really possible to confer you an absolute answer. All patients are different and as a conditition affects them nearby is always a soil and nut situation. 4 Weeks would seem a adequate start and then pinch it from there.
3 weeks. max.
You call for to consult with your GP but I would suggest you bring off at least possible 2-3 weeks. Get back into it at a snail`s pace. You don't want to overdo it. You say that you can just walk 20 yard without getting breathless, I would ask your GP for some counsel from a physio and OT in regard to work simplication and energy conservation. Take it confident. You need to permit your body recover. Your boss wishes to understand this.
