Maybe u can find something nearby. Other than that, you'll need to find a eye doc predisposed to do it free or for minimal charge and that is purely not likely within NO right now bc so abundant docs are facing uninsured people immediately and they have bills to retribution too (its in the treatise almost every week how bad the medical situation is.)
Perhaps you can phone call around on the Northshore (where I am) or even in parts of Mississippi and find someone? There is an excelletn eye doc here surrounded by Slidell but I have no impression how he works with the no insurance situation. I go to him once and paid out of pocket and it be reasonable, but it be for somethign simple like chronic pinkeye. His describe is Dr Slaigle. He's at Slidell Memorial Hospital. Maybe they can help you integer out what to do.
Also you should look into applying for medicaid or medicare. I dont know how much eye stuff is covered under that but my father have medicare and has have vision problems his together life. But he mostly see docs in Mississippi around the Laurel nouns.
Worst case scenario you travel and pay the set off a little respectively month! Most docs will allow you to do that. (the nice ones anyway!!)
Best of luck! God bless!
